In this article, I want to review another traffic tactic using Video as a unique and prolific way to direct traffic to your website.

If you’ve been on the web or, as a matter of fact, if you’re breathing at all, you’ve heard of YouTube. Millions and millions of videos are uploaded to YouTube each and every day. These very same videos are visited by millions of people not only for fun but to be educated as well.

That being said, there is a great opportunity to btain traffic using YouTube, as well as the other video websites, at NO COST.

There are a couple of things you need to think about when using videos as a traffic strategy:

1. Be Unique – if you’re going to use video as a tool you need to create something different and unique. It needs to attract the visitor and then keep them interested. Similar to other areas of the web, visitors tend to lose focus easily and leave real quickly ( in less than 10 seconds) if the content is not interesting and worth their time.

2. Great Title – Once again, like everything on the web, the first thing the visitor sees is the headline. Make it interesting and grab the attention of the visitor.

3. Create a Channel – YouTube provides you with the opportunity to create your own channel (ie. homepage) for free. You need to create a bio and include in that bio the url you want your visitors to go to when they visit your channel. There was always a big buildup when one of the leaders was coming to town. Everyone at the meetings would be all excited. Then the speaker would flash into town and the meeting would be alive with the buzz.

When the meeting was over, everyone would be full of energy and all excited and ready to take on the world. They would rush out and be looking for their next prospect even before they got outside.

Then everyone rushes home and starts planning their next home presentation and they buy more sales tools and invite more friends and family. They review their notes and make a big energy filled presentation.

All of that happened years ago with my mom. So it was kind of silly when I realized that I was doing the same things 25 years later. It hit me like a ton of bricks.

Once I took a step back and thought about it, I wanted to kick myself because, even though it was a new company, with a new product and a new compensation plan, I was getting the same results as my mom was getting years before the Internet.

One reason it got by me initially was, now with the Internet and my company’s website, I thought I had an online business. They knew they needed a website or they would be losing customers.

But the strange thing is, those companies want you to order products, sign people up, research products, track your team and receive messages online, but they do not teach you to recruit and prospect or market online.

Here are 3 different types of titles to experiment with:

1 – The “How-To” Title–these types of titles (and articles) are very popular on the internet. They are not flashy, but they clearly state what the article is about and the benefit of the article. For example:

“How to Hold a Baby”

2 – The “list” title–a title that references a numbered list. For example:

“Top 10 Chicken Recipes”

“7 Reasons You Should Learn Ballroom Dancing”

3 – A title with your keywords. Be careful on this–your keywords should not comprise the entire article headline, but rather just be a part of it. And you should only use your keywords in your title when appropriate.

Remember, the title must reflect what the article is about, so if your article is not about your keywords, it would not be appropriate to include them in your title. If you are including your keywords, try putting them at the beginning of the title. That will help readers who are scanning lists quickly pick up on the topic of your article, and it will also help search engines.
