I remember my first Amway meeting 25 years ago. You may say that I am giving away my age but, I have to tell you, the meeting was for my mom, not me, I was a kid. It was still exciting to see the heavy hitters flaunting their lifestyles and achievements.
There was always a big buildup when one of the leaders was coming to town. Everyone at the meetings would be all excited. Then the speaker would flash into town and the meeting would be alive with the buzz.
When the meeting was over, everyone would be full of energy and all excited and ready to take on the world. They would rush out and be looking for their next prospect even before they got outside.
Then everyone rushes home and starts planning their next home presentation and they buy more sales tools and invite more friends and family. They review their notes and make a big energy filled presentation.
All of that happened years ago with my mom. So it was kind of silly when I realized that I was doing the same things 25 years later. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
Once I took a step back and thought about it, I wanted to kick myself because, even though it was a new company, with a new product and a new compensation plan, I was getting the same results as my mom was getting years before the Internet.
One reason it got by me initially was, now with the Internet and my company’s website, I thought I had an online business. They knew they needed a website or they would be losing customers.
But the strange thing is, those companies want you to order products, sign people up, research products, track your team and receive messages online, but they do not teach you to recruit and prospect or market online.
Today’s companies know without a website they will lose a share of the market but they are still behind the times considering building your business. Those worn out methods really limit your prospect list to only those you have a number for or can get and people you meet.
But there is a global billboard out there called the Internet where millions of people are searching everyday for your product and your opportunity. Using those old methods means you are giving up an unlimited number of prospects that you can recruit so you can pester a very limited number of uninterested prospects.
That does not even consider how hard it is to “sell” things when you have no experience and maybe even the wrong personality for sales. It seems to me that if you can learn how to get around a computer you can learn how to market online and that will give you a never ending source of leads to build your business with.
All you have to do is understand that no business will succeed without sales and no sales happen without marketing which means advertising.
If chasing and bothering friends and family until they start avoiding you and won’t answer the phone is enjoyable to you then you should please continue and forget about this article.

Network marketing online can be stripped down to a 3 step process which is used by all successful Internet marketers. First you build a list, then you build a relationship with those on the list and then you monetize that list.
That is the process but the marketing part means you will need to learn many different strategies. But keep in mind, it is just like anything else, you do it in steps.
Everyone has at least one strong point so that is where to start. Stay with it until you find success and then learn others.
If you only use one strategy in network marketing you can hurt your business. You should start with your easiest but you should add more strategies as you learn for 2 important reasons.
First, the Internet and rules using it will change from time to time and when all your income is generated from one strategy, if your positioning gets changed you could lose your income until you change or fix your strategy. Second, there are many more people than one strategy can reach.
